American snorkeler missing in East End

Police is currently searching for a 47 year old American man who went missing while snorkeling off the Reef Resort in East End.

Today (Thursday, 5 March) at 11:21am, uniform officers in the eastern districts received a report of the missing snorkeler. The man was identified as a Massachusetts, USA  resident. Police reported that he went  snorkeling with his wife and became separated approximately 250 yards off shore. The spouse of the missing man returned to shore but her husband was not seen. A search commenced after the report of the missing man was made.

“RCIPS Joint Marine Unit with two vessels responded to the report along three vessels from the Department of Environment, Marine Enforcement Unit, Cayman Helicopter, divers and other water sport operators in the area, are assisting with Wave Runners,” police stated.

“The male snorkeler was last seen wearing a white beach shorts, clear goggles and black and blue fins. He was not wearing a shirt.”
