An investigation is underway after a woman was grabbed on her backside by a man on the street in West Bay last weekend.
Police say it is the third such incident where they are now investigating an indecent assault I nthe area. The woman says she was walking along Batabano Road around 5:45am on Saturday, 18 July, near the Church of Christ. She says she saw a man riding on his bicycle when he passed her heading in the opposite direction. The victim says he jumped off his bike, ran up behind her and grabbed her buttocks. She says the perpetrator ran away when he saw an oncoming vehicle.
The victim describes the suspect as being around 5’5”, of small build, short black hair and of black/dark complexion. He was wearing a sleeveless dark shirt and dark pants.
The incident is under investigation by West Bay CID.
Police have released CCTV clips were released at that time and are urging women with similar experiences who may have not reported them to police to come forward, as well as anyone with any information regarding these assaults. Increased patrols in the area of Batabano Road are now in force, but police are also asking women to take safety precautions as much as possible, and not to walk or exercise alone in the area.
