House fire along Queens Highway
A house fire resulted in a collapsed roof along the Queen’s Highway. The blaze took place in the early morning hours, around 1:30am.
Officers saw shrubbery enveloped in flames while on their patrol and decided to investigate. The owner of the house was alerted and it was determined no one was inside. Domestic crews responded immediately from the Frank Sound sub-station. The Central station also responded as a back up.
Fire Services is now looking into the incident.
$5 daylight robbery
A masked robber mugged a woman of $5 as she left the Crewe Road Mini Mart around lunch time Monday.
Police said the victim was approached by a man who demanded cash, while pointing an object at her concealed in a white cloth.
The woman reported she had just put her bag in the car which was parked at the side of the mini-grocery at the junction of Belmont Close, when the robber went into the car, grabbed the bag and made off with five one-dollar bills. Police say he ran off in the direction of the Cayman Clinic.
Police describe the suspect as of dark complexion, shirtless and of slim build, and about 5’10” in height. He used a striped green T-shirt to cover his face.
