Anthony Chin Jr, the Cayman Islands’ youngest team member at the Caribbean Union of Teachers (CUT) Games won Silver in the Under-9 boys Long Jump.
Held in Tortola British Virgin Islands, July 15-16, the track & field competition is for youth athletes. The age group categories are U-9, U-11, U-13 and U-15 age (boys and girls). The Cayman team consisted of four athletes and two officials, one of whom was Team Manager Elizabeth Ibeh.
Ms Ibeh said, “Overall the team did well and it was great exposure for them competing against teams from Jamaica, Barbados, Bahamas to name a few. Our youngest competitor Anthony Chin Jr. was the only medalist.”
Cayman Islands Athletics Association (CIAA) Acting President, Cydonie Mothersill stated, “The CIAA is extremely proud of all our athletes who represented us at the CUT Games. We had several top eight finishers in their respective events in what was a very competitive competition. It is a great showing for the development of track and field in the Cayman Islands. Special congratulations to our sole medalist Anthony Chin Jr.”
