Film kids win trip to New York


Eight young filmmakers were chosen as finalists out of 30 contestants who participated in the Young Image Maker’s competition presented by the Cayman National Cultural Foundation and two of them are now planning their reward of a one-week scholarship to the New York Film Academy.

The junior winner was Sahil Jyoti and in the senior category Aidan Hew was the proud recipient. Both will be going to New York this summer and also received a fabulous Logic gift bag which includes a Bless the Youth T-shirt, 2017 CayFilm passes, CayFilm complimentary workshops, Red Sail sports gift certificate, Subway Sandwiches Centennial Towers gift certificate and Regal Cinemas Stadium 6 at Camana Bay gift certificate.

The show was on Saturday, June 24 at the Harquail Theatre. It ran smoothly and included previews of upcoming children’s films, a junior category premiere of films.

The junior category winner was announced by Josh Pearl” Hydes, Caymanian musician and aspiring director/artist.

Dream Chasers Dance Company gave a performance before the senior category films were premiered and the winner was announced by Tony Mark, director of the CayFilm Festival, Emmy winning video editor, seasoned writer and director for major feature films and hit Hollywood television shows.

There was a song by Jaedyn Hanna and a kids movie trivia with prizes from Subway Sandwiches Centennial Towers, Red Sail Sports Gift Certificate and Regal Cinemas Stadium 6 at Camana Bay Gift Certificates.
