Take a trip down Memory Lane

Pictures courtesy Craig Merren

Now who doesn’t love a trip down memory lane?

Here’s Cayman as some of you may have never seen before. Who remembers a night out in Durty Reid’s? Or how about spending the afternoon relaxing by the Galleon Hotel?

Craig Merren has kindly shared his family album with us with snaps from the 1930s through to the 1980s.

There’s even a shot of the Royal Bank of Canada as you’ve never seen it before and also the grand opening of Comart Supermarket.

Mr. Merren said: “Since I’ve started posting the old pictures on Facebook the reaction from the public has been great. People obviously like taking a trip down Memory Lane.

“I think people of all ages like seeing what Cayman looked like in days gone by. Some people may be too young to remember the Galleon or Royal Palms in the 1970s but the like to see just how we lived in the past.”

Do you have some photographs of Cayman is days gone by? Send them to us and we’ll try and print them in the newspaper: [email protected]
