George Town private school robbed

A man pretending to be a parent robbed a school in George Town Thursday.

Police say they were called to a report of suspicious activity at the private school Truth for Youth on Walker Road around 9.15 a.m.

A spokeswoman for the RCIPS said: “When they arrived at the location they learned that in fact a robbery had taken place. A member of the school staff had been pushed to the ground by a man posing as a parent asking to register his child, and a quantity of cash that had been gathered in registration fees had been taken.

“The incident had occurred around 8.30 a.m. and the man departed the premises of the school in the direction of Boilers Road. The only description available at this time of the suspect is that he brown-skinned, wearing a purple shirt and a black backpack.”

Anyone with information is encouraged to call George Town Police Station at 949-4222.  Anonymous tips can be provided directly to the RCIPS via our Confidential Tip Line at 949-7777 or via the Miami-based call centre of Crime Stoppers at 800-8477(TIPS).
