Woman arrested after North Side murder

A man young man was stabbed to death Sunday night at his home in North Side.

Police are questioning a woman, thought to be his girlfriend, on suspicion of murder.

A spokeswoman for the RCIPS said: “Just past 5.20 p.m. Sunday, 17 September, police, fire and emergency services were dispatched by the 9-1-1 Communications Centre to a residence on Union Street in North Side.

“A man had been stabbed and had difficulty breathing.  CPR was administered to the man and he was transported to George Town Hospital where he was pronounced dead.”

Police have identified the dead man as Azzan Sherieff, 23, of North Side.

Mr. Sherieff, who was killed Sunday.

The former John Gray High School Pupil was a keen fisherman, and his facebook profile is packed with images of the man showing off his catch.

It appears the death was following a domestic dispute between Mr. Sherieff and his girlfriend.

The police spokeswoman added: “A woman, age 25 of North Side, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and is currently in Police custody.  The woman and the victim were known to each other.”
