Do you want to join a dynamic media company that is going places in 2017?
The Cayman Reporter is actively recruiting for general news reporters.
Now under new ownership and management, The Cayman Reporter has ambitious plans for growth in 2017 and is actively seeking creative thinkers, team players, and go-getters, who have bags of enthusiasm for the media industry.
As a news reporter, you will be able to report on a wide range of topics, from breaking news stories to local events. You will have a “nose” for a good story and be able to pitch timely and topical articles and features. It goes without saying that you will have an excellent grasp of the English language and be able to write in a clear and concise manner to house style.
In addition, you will also be a dab hand at editing press releases, and ideally, have some knowledge of production processes. Knowledge of social media and the ability to snap a print-worthy picture is a bonus, in addition to a bulging book of contacts, although we are willing to work with applicants who are new to Cayman.
As is the nature of the news industry, you will be able to work to strict deadlines, and be willing to work evenings and weekends as required.
To be considered for the position, you will have a minimum of five years’ print journalism experience gained within a busy newsroom, as well as a recognised qualification in journalism, such as the NCTJ, or a degree in a media-related field.
The Cayman Reporter is offering an attractive salary of KYD$40,000 – $55,000, dependent on experience in addition to statutory benefits, as required by law.
To apply, send your CV, a cover letter, as well as a selection of bylined articles to The Cayman Reporter’s editor, email@example.com.
